The first-placed teams from the group stage have all been handed a direct entry into the play-offs, while the nations that placed second and third will contest the last four spots in a relegation phase.
Should Sweden move past Lithuania, then they will have to go head-to-head with Germany, while Denmark will meet Scandinavian rivals Norway if they manage to beat Ukraine.
The last two matches of the opening play-off round will put Russia against Estonia, and the Czech Republic against Spain.
